WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (WISDOT) — THE CHALLENGE: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) required clear, accessible public communications for large-scale infrastructure initiatives involving complex construction impacts, technical information, and diverse regional audiences. High-profile projects such as the Zoo Interchange modernization demanded multilingual materials capable of improving public understanding and community engagement throughout the region. — APPROACH: Embedded within a public information consortium serving WisDOT through ABRAZO Multicultural Marketing and Communication, I developed public-facing communication materials supporting major freeway and infrastructure initiatives across Wisconsin. The work included multilingual maps, visual exhibits, construction communications, environmental graphics, and outreach materials designed to translate highly technical transportation information into clear and accessible public messaging. Materials were produced in both English and Spanish to strengthen community engagement and broaden public understanding across diverse audiences. — IMPACT: The resulting materials strengthened public awareness, transparency, and visual consistency across some of Wisconsin’s most visible transportation initiatives, including the Zoo Interchange Reconstruction Project — the largest freeway reconstruction effort in WisDOT history. The work supported more effective community engagement, reinforced institutional credibility, and helped make complex infrastructure projects more understandable and approachable for the public.
