MILWAUKEE COUNTY BRAND REFRESH — THE CHALLENGE: Milwaukee County’s evolving communications system required a more contemporary and unified visual identity that could better reflect a modern public institution. Existing assets and applications had become inconsistent over time, creating the need for a refreshed system that balanced professionalism, accessibility, and long-term adaptability. — APPROACH: Building on the foundation of the original Milwaukee County Brand Kit I had developed, I led a strategic “Brand Shift” centered around a new organizational logo developed to reflect the County’s updated vision, mission, and strategic priorities. The initiative intentionally avoided the language of a traditional “rebrand” process, emphasizing instead a thoughtful evolution achieved entirely through internal talent and existing resources without additional taxpayer expense. The refreshed system expanded visual standards, typography, and communication assets while preserving institutional recognition and organizational trust. I conducted launch meetings with departments, elected offices, and stakeholder groups to introduce the updated identity, distribute resources, answer questions, and build organization-wide support for implementation. — IMPACT: The refreshed identity modernized Milwaukee County’s public image while creating stronger visual consistency across print, digital, and environmental communications. The system improved usability for departments, strengthened recognition across audiences, and established a scalable framework for future communications and campaigns.
