AIDS RESOURCE CENTER OF WISCONSIN (ARCW) — THE CHALLENGE: The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin required emotionally resonant and visually engaging communications capable of supporting fundraising, public awareness, healthcare outreach, and community connection during a critical period in HIV/AIDS advocacy. Communications needed to balance compassion, urgency, accessibility, and strong organizational identity across diverse audiences and statewide initiatives. — APPROACH: I developed communication and promotional materials supporting major ARCW fundraising and awareness initiatives including the annual Make A Promise Gala, AIDS Walk Wisconsin, and Jolly Holly Folly. Through campaign branding, event collateral, editorial materials, advertising, and community-focused visual storytelling, the work helped translate sensitive healthcare and advocacy messaging into communications that felt approachable, emotionally resonant, and community-centered. The design approach balanced professionalism with warmth and optimism, helping create fundraising and awareness experiences that felt engaging, inclusive, and celebratory while supporting ARCW’s broader mission of care, advocacy, and public education. — IMPACT: The resulting materials supported some of Wisconsin’s most visible HIV/AIDS fundraising and awareness initiatives during a transformative period for LGBTQ+ advocacy and public health outreach. Design work contributed to large-scale community engagement efforts that generated hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for HIV prevention, treatment, education, and care services throughout Wisconsin. The work also helped strengthen ARCW’s professional visibility and reinforce its reputation as one of the region’s leading nonprofit and advocacy organizations.
